Subway fares to be raised

The subway fares are likely to move up from Bt15-Bt39 to Bt16-Bt42, said Praphat Chongsanguan, governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) - the subway concession owner.

Praphat said that the increase is in line with the concession which allows Bangkok Metro Plc, the concessionaire, to raise fares every two years.

The MRTA is preparing the proposal and submitting it to the MRTA's board for approval on February 1.
