Application Hosting Services expands

Application Hosting Services (A-Host) is focusing on three new areas of business to reach double-digit growth this year. Managing director Bunprasit Tangchaisuk said the company had a strategy for setting up three new business units this year: service-oriented architecture, business intelligence (BI) and content management.

The firm will develop SOA applications so that clients can adopt their business management to Web services and increase productivity. This aspect of the information-technology (IT) industry will appeal particularly to foreign firms.

"I think even if the economy slows down, information-technology investment will still continue to grow," Bunprasit said. "Moreover, government projects will inject money into the IT industry this year."

Meanwhile, the BI unit will focus on providing solutions like enterprise-resource planning (ERP) based on Oracle software, in order to help clients analyse information and plan to be competitive against rivals. The unit will focus on the banking, finance and manufacturing industries.

"We expect that BI will help clients justify returns of investment and enhance business management in both internal and external systems, thus increasing their revenue," Bunprasit said.

In the content-management strategy, the firm will help customers manage their content and databases, in order to increase their productivity and create advantages for their business processes.

"We set up the three new business units to support our new strategy, in order to focus on target markets and the direction to drive our business," said Bunprasit.

He said the firm was also expanding to database administration, database consulting services and ERP applications in the US and Vietnam.

Bunprasit said the company had pilot projects that provided Oracle database applications to the US market in 2006 and ERP to the Vietnamese market last year. This year, the company will focus on business based on Oracle database technology and applications, as well as consulting services. It plans to set up representative offices in the US and Vietnam within the next three years.

"I think local software companies that want to enter the international market should make their business strong in the local market before expanding abroad, so that they will have the experience and expertise as well as international standards to compete with global companies," Bunprasit said.
