Parliament may pick other locations for the new Parliament building

National Legislative Assembly speaker Meechai Ruchupan said if the new House did not want to build new Parliament building on a plot of the Royal Thai Army's Ordance Department in Nonthaburi, the NLA could do nothing.

"We have done our job. If they do not like the plan, there is nothing we can do,'' he said.

The NLA had earlier chosen the 265-rai plot in Nonthaburi. If the new House approves the plan, the government will have to pay a compenstation worth Bt1 billion to the Army, Meechai said.
