The key speakers include specialists in English-language teaching who will share their experiences on the progress and implementation of English-language policy and practice in Thailand and other countries, said Thai Tesol, the non-profit organisation organising the event.

The conference is held annually to update teachers on trends and technology in the teaching of English. Travel grants and scholarships are available for practitioners to take a short course overseas.

The event at the Sofitel Khon Kaen hotel will feature a colloquium on "Progress on Policy and Practice: Initiatives, challenges and lessons learnt". It will highlight the implementation of various English-language policies in China, South Korea, Japan and Thailand.

Among the speakers are Mary Lou McCloskey, former Tesol president and now director of Teacher Education and Curriculum Development for Educo in Atlanta, and Jun Liu, professor and head of the English department at the University of Arizona and also executive director of the English Language Centre at Shantou University in China.
