Balance in all things

I am living and working in Bangkok and feel something is missing from my life. Balance

Balance in all things

One of the happiest times in my life was when I had my own business for seven years in Hua Hin. My work involved something I loved but gave me ample time to ride my motorbike into the mountains, exploring and learning from nature, much of which I included in what I was teaching. Today, I am living and working in Bangkok and feel something is missing from my life. Balance.

I have always been a student and lover of nature, probably from my background as a Native American (Red) Indian from the Texas Comanche tribe. Many so-called "primitive cultures" have always taught that balance is necessary for success and happiness. Taoism taught about Yin and Yang. My grandfather taught about the balance of the spirits of nature. We all, regardless of our belief systems, need balance in our lives.

I have learned, when unhappy, to first look for what is missing in my life. Where have I become unbalanced? What do I need to restore? Fortunately, I live on an estate where I do not hear traffic and the incessant whistles of security guards directing traffic. I wake every morning to the sound of tropical birds welcoming the rising sun.

If you are unhappy, what are you missing to ensure balance? Is it simply having fun? Friends? Music? Find and pursue it with passion. It could be more important than you think. Most focus on financial security, material goods, but neither provides us with a true sense of balance. We all need more and some have no idea what's missing.

I found the answer in my childhood, riding horses across plains of Texas, camping in the mountains, living off the land: for me it was nature. What is your key to your balance? What are you missing? Find it and restore balance to your life now.
