Workers said Thai Products International had divided severance into four payments due in January, June, July and August, despite an earlier agreement for one single settlement. The factory shut down earlier this month.
Sanit Yasamut, a company personnel official, said the payments had to be staggered because the company had cash-flow problems. He said the severance payment was agreed at 25 per cent of workers' monthly salary.
The firm had to close as production had been moved to its Bangkok plant to save transport costs, he said.
The workers went home after the company agreed to full settlement by August.
