2007 new business registrations down 13%

Business Development Department revealed on Tuesday that throughout 2007, a number of 40,723 companies were registered, a 13 per cent drop from the previous year.

In 2006, 46,881 new companies were registered.

In December alone, new entries nationwide totalled 1,986 with combined registered capital of Bt13.4 billion. Out of that, 793 are located in Bangkok. Q Asia Energy Co Ltd has the highest capital, Bt3.6 billion.

The December registrations was down 20.69 per cent from the same period last year, and 41.21 per cent from the November figures.
