Paid TV will have benefits from ads expenses

BEC World Plc and MCOT Plc would apparently benefit expected shift of Bt8.3billion advertisement expense after the Public Relation Department order TITV to stop broadcasting its programs to comply with public TV law, stock analysts said on Tuesday.

TITV is in the process of becoming Thai Public Broadcasting Service The process of transforming TITV from a commercial FTA channel into Thailand's first public TV channel, namely Thai Public Broadcasting Service (TPBS).

Public TV law prohibits TiTV to sell TV ads.

Citibank said in its report that this has effectively ended speculation that TiTV, formerly owned by Thaksin, would be able to come back to commercial station under the PPPled government, or Thaksin's nominee.

Thus, Citibank said TiTV held 15.5 per cent of advertisement expense share, or Bt8.3 billion, which now has to move to other channels.
