MQDC outlines ambitious expansion plan

Property firm Magnolia Quality Development (MQDC) plans to launch eight new residential projects this year worth nearly Bt10 billion.

They are part of the company's drive to achieve targeted revenue of Bt3 billion this year, managing director Visit Malaisirirat said yesterday.

The company also plans to expand abroad over the next two years, especially in Dubai, and a feasibility study is already underway, he said.

MQDC is the property arm of the DT Group, which develops residential projects under the brand names Magnolia and The Muse.

Three of the eight projects will be built under the Magnolia brand on Bang Na-Trat Road in Pattaya and another in Bangkok's central business district (CBD).

One project on Bang Na-Trat will be a combination of single-detached houses and a condominium. The other two in Pattaya and the one in Bangkok's CBD will be only condominiums.

Four other developments will be condominiums under The Muse brand. They will be located near mass-transit routes and start at Bt1.5 million a unit.

Another project will be a 50:50 joint venture with CP Land, the property arm of the CP Group, and will be called CPMQ. The joint venture will spend Bt2 billion to build a condominium project under the brand name The Chur. Prices for this project will start at Bt1.5 million a unit.

These developments will be under the environmentally friendly theme of "Energy Saving Houses", which won an Energy Ministry award last year.

"We're strongly confident that the domestic property market will recover after the new government is installed, and because of this we have decided to expand our investment," Visit said.

With its aggressive growth target, the company expects revenue of Bt1.3 billion this year and Bt3 billion next year.
