As plaintiff, New Aspiration Party spokesman Sarawut Thongpen has petitioned the cancellation of advance-voting results on grounds that the Election Commission (EC) has no mandate to organise the two-day voting.
Sarawut contends the EC set the dates before the promulgation of the 2007 Constitution and that the EC acted beyond its jurisdiction in allowing voters to cast advance ballots, reserved for absentee voters only.
In its rebuttal, the EC submitted evidence claiming it had acted in accordance with precedents and the electoral process.
