C-Com integrates with iPSTAR

Canada's C-Com Satellite Systems has completed integration of its iNetVu mobile antenna systems with the iPSTAR broadband satellite owned by Shin Satellite (ShinSat).

Published on January 12, 2008

The iPSTAR satellite, with a capacity of more than 45 gigabits per second, has extensive coverage across the Asia-Pacific and offers high-speed, two-way broadband communications to more than 100,000 subscribers in eight countries with 11 gateways.

Asia's largest satellite broadband system now serves Australia, Cambodia, China, Laos, Thailand, Burma, New Zealand and Vietnam. The Malaysian, Philippine and Indonesian gateways are under construction.

INetVu's mobile integration with the iPSTAR modem makes it possible to deliver mobile solutions to existing and potential iPSTAR customers.

"We are pleased to have been able to cooperate with iPSTAR and implement a seamless integration of the iNetVu controller with the iPSTAR modem. This integration will allow us to deliver jointly with iPSTAR a cost-effective and reliable mobile solution to a very large area in the Asia-Pacific region covered by the iPSTAR network," Leslie Klein, president and CEO of the Ottawa-based antenna company, said this week.

"C-Com will be working closely with our own reseller channels in the region, as well as with the large iPSTAR distribution network to promote this new business opportunity," he said.

"We're seeing a large demand for mobile satellite applications in our coverage area. And with the successful integration of the C-Com-manufactured iNetVu mobile platforms with the iPSTAR modem, we'll be able to provide our existing and potential customers with a cost-effective, reliable world-class mobile-satellite solution," said Patompob Suwansiri, head of marketing at ShinSat.
