Sodsri dismisses rumour

Election Commission member Sodsri Satayathum yesterday dismissed rumours that her daughter, who is a judge, would become an aide to Deputy Prime Minister Sonthi Boonyaratglin, saying it was a shameless attempt to smear her and her family.

She said she saw no justification for her daughter Konna to lower herself and work as a "clerk" for Sonthi.

The rumour spread after an article appeared on the hi-thaksin.net website displaying a memorandum signed by deputy secretary-general to the prime minister that Loyluen Buunag had requested the transfer of Konna. The memorandum was dated October 15, two weeks after Sonthi assumed office, and sent to the Office of the Supreme Court President.

Commenting on the issue, Loyluen said an aide to Sonthi had instructed him to make the transfer request and that he was told a few days later to cancel it.
