Traffic police injured after bus crashed into his booth

A Traffic Police officer was hospitalised Friday morning after a speeding city bus crashed into the signal control booth in Bangkok's Bang Khae district where he was stationed.

SgtMajor Warunpong Harnjit, 39, sustained slight injuries when a No 183 airconditioned bus slammed into his booth at an intersection on Phetkasem Road at about 9am.

He was rushed to Kasemraj Hospital.

Bus driver Suwit Shinabutra, 46, who remained at the scene, told police he had dozed off behind the wheel as he was going through the junction. As no trace of alcohol was found, Suwit was charged with reckless driving causing bodily injury and damaging state property.
