Tammy Advances to 2ND Round in Melbourne

Sixth seed Tamarine Tanasugarn recovered from a second set defeat to move past Melanie South of Great Britain 6-3 3-6 6-2 in the first qualifying round of the Australian Open qualifying round on Thursday.



    After the second set lapse, Tamarine regrouped her concentration, breaking her opponent twice to wrap up the match and will play former top 10 player Jelena Dokic of Australia, who ousted Marina Erakovic of New Zealand 6-4 6-1, in round two on Friday.

    Also in the second round actions will be Danai Udomchoke who is set to meet France's Anthony Dupuis in the men's singles.
