Coins to mark royal funeral

The Treasury Department will propose making silver and bronze coins to commemorate the funeral of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, deputy director-general Jaruwan Janthimapong said yesterday.

The department planned to table its proposal at the meeting of the committee to organise the royal funeral yesterday afternoon at the Prime Minister's Office, she told Modern Nine's morning news.

Jaruwan said the special coins' value would be based on donations, not the face price of the coin.

A Bt50 donation would get one bronze coin. Officials were studying the donation price for the silver coin.

Any profit, after costs, would be presented to HM the King for HRH Princess's funeral, she said.

The coins can only be reserved or bought through the department or Krung Thai Bank, Jaruwan said.
