"Something in my stomach didn't feel good and it hasn't really left me yet. I'm sleeping ok and trying to rest. The doctors told me to take it easy."
Federer admitted that at one point over the weekend he went to a Melbourne hospital for medical opinions.
He said that despite missing this week's traditional tune-up at Kooyong club which starts on Wednesday, he expects to pull up fit when the Open begins.
"I'm hanging around because I think it will all turn out for the good. I will be at 100 per cent by the time the event starts."
