Chelsea have bid for forward Anelka rebuffed

London (dpa) - The Bolton Wanderers on Monday rejected a bid from Chelsea for striker Nicolas Anelka.

With Didier Drogba away at the African Cup of Nations for at least a month, Chelsea are looking to add to their attacking options.

Anelka signed a four-year contract earlier in the season, but has made little secret of the fact that he would move were a big club to approach him.

The France striker is valued at 10 million pounds (19.7 million dollars).

"We can confirm we have made an official offer for the transfer of Nicolas Anelka, which is being discussed with Bolton Wanderers," Chelsea said in a statement on their website.
