The price of cooking gas has been allowed to rise Bt18 per 15-kilogram cylinder or Bt1.20 per kilogram, but the ministry has found some traders charging Bt20 more a cylinder.
Yangyong Phuangrach, director-general of the Internal Trade Department, yesterday said the ministry would take legal action against unscrupulous traders.
Under the Price Act, violators found guilty of charging than the fixed price could be sentenced to 5 years in prison, fined Bt100,000 or both.
Liquor scion
Thapana Sirivadhanab-hakdi, the eldest son of liquor tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, has been promoted to the top post at Thai Beverage, the family's flagship business.
After years of serving the country's largest liquor and beer company, he was promoted following the resignation of Samut Hatthasing as company president,
effective from New Year's Day, said a company statement.
Thapana is now acting president, and his presidency will be confirmed at the next meeting of the board of directors.
Samut will remain on the company's executive board and board of directors. On December 25, 2007, Samut was also appointed fourth executive vice chairman.
Children's Day
Central Pattana will go ahead with celebrations on National Children's Day, but the theme will focus on education and donations for underprivileged children and an exhibition on HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana's activities.
A source at the company said activities would differ at each branch.
While Central Plaza Chiang Mai will host a competition to paint a portrait of the late Princess, Central Plaza Ram Indra will focus on underprivileged children.
Some malls had planned to cancel all celebrations because of the death of the Princess.
