Barcelona not planning to sell Ronaldinho in January

Madrid (dpa) - Troubled Spanish giants Barcelona are not planning to sell Ronaldinho in the January transfer window, the club said Thursday.

"Nothing has changed since the last time we talked, before Christmas. Ronaldinho is not for sale," Barcelona technical secretary Txiki Begiristain told the digital version of Marca.

On Wednesday Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that AC Milan had received no for an answer after asking Barca if the Brazilian megastar was on the market.

Ronaldinho lost his idol status at the Camp Nou in 2007, because of his lethargic displays on the field, his poor physical condition -and because of all the rumours about his unprofessional nightlife.

He missed Wednesday's cup match against third division Alcoyano with tendinitis in his left calf, and might also miss Saturday's league game away to Mallorca.

Ronaldinho's poor form has contributed to Barca being seven points behind Liga leaders Real Madrid, who won 1-0 in the Camp Nou on December 23.
