Musicians supported by Princess's foundations

Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana was an ardent classical music lover who supported several organisations and scholarship funds for young talent.

Those receiving help from the Princess included the Music Education Fund for Young Musicians, which she initiated in 1989. The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra executive committee is its trustee.

In 2004, the fund's name was changed to the Fund for Classical Music Promotion, but it remained under the Princess' patronage. The fund expanded the scope of its support to include composers and musicians.

Money is available to those studying at home and abroad at all levels. There is money for short training courses, too. To date 19 young musicians and one composer have been assisted.

Other organisations under the Princess' patronage were the Thai Youth Orchestra, managed by the National Cultural Commission, and Chulalongkorn University Symphony Orchestra.

The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation, Bangkok Symphony Music School, Bangkok Opera Foundation and Bangkok International Performing Arts Festival have benefited from the Princess' help.
