Jazz snaps Blazers' 13-game winning streak

Los Angeles - The Utah Jazz rang in 2008 by closing out the Portland Trail Blazers' impressive run.

Carlos Boozer scored 19 points and Deron Williams added 18 as the Jazz ended the Blazers' league-high 13-game winning streak, 111-101 on Monday night, despite a career-high 36 points by Lamarcus Aldridge.

"We were aggressive offensively and we got stops when had to get them for us to win the game," Boozer said.

The Trail Blazers (18-13) were sporting the second best run in franchise history, including a pair of victories over the Jazz, before falling for the first time since a December 2 setback to the San Antonio Spurs.

"You can't win all of them all. We'd like to, but Utah played great tonight," said Blazers guard Brandon Roy after scoring 17 points.

"It was a great month for us. We lost the first game of the month and the last game of the month. Any time you do that, I think that's a sign of a young team maturing."

Matt Harpring netted 15 points while Russian Andrei Kirilenko and Paul Millshap had 14 points apiece for Utah (17-16), which snapped a modest two-game slide.

Kyle Korver had 11 points in his Jazz debut after being acquired from Philadelphia on Saturday for Gordon Giricek.

The Jazz trailed 71-65 midway through the third quarter before taking control. They outscored the Blazers, 20-3, and held them without a field goal for nearly five-minutes, to take an 87-79 advantage heading into the fourth frame.

Two free throws by Roy drew the Blazers to within 92-89 with 7:16 left. But Korver converted a three-point play after taking a pass from Kirilenko.

The Russian followed with a steal and dunk. Millshap added a putback before Williams' steal and pass to Korver for a breakaway lay-up opened up a 101-91 cushion with 4:43 remaining.

The Blazers pulled to 105-98 on Travis Outlaw's late three- pointer. However, Korver made a pair of free throws and Millshap followed with a dunk to seal the win.
