TITV staff up in arms

A group of TITV staff yesterday lodged a complaint against the Public Relations Department (PRD) with the Administrative Court over a transfer order, which they described as illegitimate and unfair.

Published on December 29, 2007

The order, signed by PRD director-general Pramoj Rathavinij, abruptly removed Atcha Suwanpakpraek from his post as the acting news director of TITV just two days before the December 23 election. Twelve other officials were also reshuffled.

Pramoj has replaced Atcha with Sonthiyarn Chuenrutainaitham, former managing director of INN Newschannel.

"The order has interfered with the work of the editorial team," Atcha said.

The group led by Atcha asked the Administrative Court to issue an injunction allowing Atcha and the 12 others to remain in their old positions until the final court ruling on their complaint, or until the court ruled otherwise.

The Administrative Court is set to hear their case on Thursday.
