Puea Pandin drifting toward PPP

The Puea Pandin convened a crucial meeting on Thursday to decide its future as the majority of 24 winning candidates wanted to join the People Power Partyled coalition.

Party leader Suwit Khunkitti chaired the meeting though he lost the race in Khon Kaen's constituency 3. Suwit's deputy Vatana Asavahame, seen as the rival of People Power leader Samak Sundaravej, was a noshow.

"The only way for Puea Pandin to advance forward is to be part of the coalition government," MPelect Suradet Yasawat said, pleading in favour of the People Power.

Suradet said the two parties had similar policies and that he anticipated the coalition led by People Power would be more stable than the one led by the Democrats.

MPelect Waemahadi Waedaoh said his Narathiwat constituents had reversed their stand from a complete opposition to the People Power to a guarded approval.

"My constituents say their personal feelings should be a secondary issue because they want the country to move forward instead of being trapped in a stalemate," he said in reference to the resentment of the southern residents against the disbanded Thai Rak Thai Party which is the precursor of the People Power.

MPelect Ronritthichai Khankhet said he was an exmember of Thai Rak Thai, hence he would be comforatble working with his former colleagues.

Failed candidate Sophon Phetpradab said the People Power was trying to intimidate witnesses to withdraw from testiying on electoral fraud in order to minimise the number of disqualifications involving its winning candidates.
