Kivuvu turns down Angola

Amsterdam (dpa) - Dutch first division player Dominique Kivuvu has turned down a request to play for Angola at next year's African Nations Cup in Ghana the BBC reported on Tuesday.

Kivuvu, who was born in the Netherlands, plays for NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie and has represented the Dutch under-21 side, but could also play for Angola as he holds duel citizenship.

"With my two passports and no full caps, I can still make the decision to choose for Holland or Angola," the midfielder is quoted by the BBC as having told a Dutch newspaper.

"I am hoping to be part of the Dutch Olympic football team at the Games in Beijing 2008," the 20-year-old said.

The 2006 World Cup finalists Angola will be competing in Group D together with Senegal, Tunisia and South Africa at the January 20 - February 10 competition.
