Tottenham to sign Cardiff defender Gunter in January

London (dpa) - Tottenham Hotspur confirmed on Monday that Cardiff and Wales full-back Chris Gunter will join them when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 18-year-old is thought to have cost Spurs 3 million pounds (5.93 million dollars).

"We could have offered the boy three times the amount that Tottenham are going to offer him but he wouldn't have stayed," Cardiff manager Dave Jones said.

"He has now moved on to a completely different level."
