THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

... and a few lucky winners

Four Puea Pandin Party candidates defeated their Democrat Party counterparts in the South, former senator Nimukta Waba said yesterday.

Deputy leader Dr Waemahadi Wae-dao Waemahadi took the MP seat for Narathiwat's Constituency 1, while Nimukta and Yusaree Zusaro won in Pattani's Consti-tuency 2. Manop Pattan-awong also won as a party-list candidate in Zone 8.

Nimukta, who was Waemahadi's deputy for the "Sajja Nuparb" group - which was established by former senators in 2006 - admitted the result was less than the party had expected, especially in Narathiwat where they had hoped to win at least two seats. He vowed the winning candidates would represent the people and maintain the priority goal of the Sajja Nuparb group to end the unrest affecting the region since January 2004.
