Suvarnabhumi Airport General Manager Serirat Prasutanond said on Tuesday that most of the additional demand would come from travellers in Asian countries. During the days, the number of daily travellers would then be 121,285.
"During December 25-January 5, the number of additional scheduled flights and chartered flights will be 233 flights," Serirat said.
Of total, 182 are international flights, an increase of 32 from last year or 21.33 per cent. Additional domestic flights account for 53, down 183 flights or 78.20 per cent from last year, due to the relocation of most domestic flights to Don Mueang Airport.
December 29 would be the busiest day at the international airport, when additional 38 flights are scheduled to arrive and depart the airport. On January 2, the number of scheduled flights will rise by 25 flights.
"Due to the busy schedules, Airports of Thailand will need to stand ready to provide convenience and safety," Serirat said.
A number of 850 AOT officers would be on duty during the period, up from 700.
