Flooding in Narathiwat has improved to be back to normal soon

NARATHIWAT - The flooding situation in Narathiwat was improving and only three districts remained submerged, thus the situation should be back to normal in 1-2 days, a local authority said on Sunday.



The special center for flood, storm and landslide in Narathiwat reported that the flooding situation in the southernmost province was getting back to normal as Sungai Kolok and Sai Buri and Bang Nara rivers receded, leaving only some areas of Tak Bai, Muang and Sungai Kolok still submerged.

The provincial center also revealed that the flooding from December 17 to 21 had damaged 323 villages in 13 districts, affecting 71,405 residents. Two people were killed in floods, nine homes were totally ruined and 61 houses were partially damaged, the center said, some 5,000 rai of farmland, 230 roads, 34 bridges and 24 religious sites were damaged by flood.

Although the floodwater subsided sue to no more rainfall, residents near mountains in Sukhirin, Waeng, Chanae, Su-ngai Padi and Si Sakhon districts were advised to closely follow weather reports.
