Under new regulations, Thais and foreigners can bring in and out up to US$20,000 (Bt672,000) in cash per person, the Finance Ministry said.

Currently, the maximum amount of cash individuals are allowed to bring in and out of Thailand is $50,000.

"The finance ministry considers that the new amount is suitable for tourists," Deputy Finance Minister Sommai Pasri told reporters, adding that the new rules will be effective in January. - Agence France-Presse
