PPP pulls out of debate

The People Power Party has pulled out of a debate planned for Thursday between three of its representatives and Democrat Party leaders.

The event had been cancelled as PPP said it could not make it, People's Network for Elections in Thailand (P-Net) panellist Somchai Srisutthiyakorn said yesterday.

PPP's Chalerm Yoobamrung, Yongyuth Tiyapairat and Mingkwan Saengsuwan were expected to face off with Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and members Korn Chatikavanij and Jurin Laksanavisit.

PPP leader Samak Sundaravej declined to join in from the very outset.

Abhisit took a swipe at Samak and the PPP today for their reluctance to tell the public about their plans, saying the election was being held to select a leader and it was high time people saw the real side of those contesting it and heard about their visions.
