For the concert series, computer maker Hewlett Packard asked multimedia artists to take their laptop to new heights on a six-city party tour, with shows in Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Sydney, Hong Kong and Shanghai. For the Bangkok show, the party was held at 808 on Royal City Avenue, the new club emerging from Club Astra's ashes.
Bangkok's favourite socialites including Pitta Na Pattalung, Ray McDonald, Khan Ngern Thaitanium, Patreeya na Nakorn, and Cindy and Byron Bishop were also in attendance.
With live DJs, visual artists and a host of cutting-edge technologies, young people didn't just not attend the event, they interacted with it, personalised the experience and made it their own.
The evening was kick-started by a splash of local flavour, as Prachatip "Singha" Musigapong of Sqweez Animal performed tracks off their new album "Invert Soul". Then Monton "Jay" Jira and Johnny Anwar took to the stage with their latest project Katsue, presenting their hit song "Pickled Sunday" that conveyed pop/electronic vibes.
The event was also headlined by a stellar selection of international audio and visual maestros such as Coldcut from the UK and Nu-Mark from the US. These artistes debuted new sets of experimental sounds and digital art to present an amalgamation of electrifying sonic and visual stylistics using HP notebooks.
The multi-sensorial show also featured the Berlin design collective Pfadfinderei. Its eight designers, VJs, artists and typographers produced media combination from their different styles, ranging from graphics, photo realism, image video, logos, room design, visual effects, print folders to fonts. They have worked for brands like Adidas, Levi Strauss and Nokia.
