Man: Did you go to the parade?

Woman: Parade? I didn't even know there was one.

Man: It was in the papers for weeks. Don't tell me you didn't see any of the posters either.

Woman: No. But then, I have been really busy with the assignment we got in Spectrum Analysis. I don't know what got into me to take Chemistry. I should've chosen Social Science like you. Always out on parties, clubs, parades... What was it like anyway?

Man: It couldn't have been better! I just love the lead-up to Christmas! Every store wants to outdo the others.

Woman: And now you're going to tell me again that this is all in the interest of your studies?

Man: Of course it is! You know that my thesis is about the usefulness of events to influence consumer spending.

Woman: And this way supporting consumerism. You're despicable! Whose side are you on? The stores?

Man: Who do you think gave me the grant to do my research? I don't have the money to pay for it myself.

Woman: And now I'm supposed to feel sorry for you or what? Just make sure you don't sell your soul too cheap.
