It was during the 1992 bloody uprising when he joined Student's United Front for Democracy Group.
Teerawat said he had decided to contest the upcoming election under the Democrat Party's banner because he appreciated their policies.
His main interest is the economy because he feels it is highly relevant to those living in the Northeast. According to Teerawat, the locals in the region simply do not have enough education or money and he believes the Democrat Party's policies would be able to help them.
In that sense, Teerawat supports the Democrat policy of providing a Bt500 monthly allowance to elderly people and a Bt600 monthly allowance to village volunteers. He believes the elderly people should receive assistance and village volunteers should receive a reward for their services.
Teerawat said people could trust him not to buy votes, because he wasn't a wealthy man himself. He also wants to serve the public to repay taxpayers who made it possible for him to receive a university education.
