Consumer protection network to be formed

Relevant authorities are now pushing for a plan to form a network that will strengthen consumer protection.

"Our goal is to ensure that entrepreneurs strictly respect laws and never exploit consumers," PM's Office Minister Khunying Dhipavadee Meksawan said Wednesday in her capacity as the chairwoman of Consumer Protection Board.

She said 15 relevant agencies including the Office of Consumer Protection Board and the Office of the Attorney General had already agreed to work together in a bid to provide consumers with full legal protection and legal counselling.

"Our network will take swift actions when receiving consumers' complaints. Cases will be fast referred to responsible agencies," Dhipavadee said.

According to her, high-ranking officials like permanent secretary or deputy permanent secretary of a ministry will be assigned as coordinators for consumer protection.
