A survey of consumption behaviour among a sample group of 555 people in Bangkok last month found 48 per cent ready to buy gift baskets.
Almost 79 per cent think that the rising cost of living, like the oil price, will weigh on their decision to buy gift baskets as presents for relatives. Most respondents will cut back on their budget and give fewer baskets.
Most consumers are considering the quality of the products they will buy as presents.
Chicken essence, bird's nest soup, fresh fruit and juices are the most popular contents.
The report also urged consumers to be careful with their spending for presents for the upcoming festival, due to the unfavourable economic situation this year.
