Lottery law for next govt
The future of the controversial two- and three-digit lotteries will be decided by the next government, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said yesterday.

The interim premier said his government had shown neither opposition to nor support for the Government Lottery Office Bill, and that the passing of it into law was initiated and implemented solely by the National Legislative Assembly.
Surayud said he had not received a request by NLA speaker Meechai Ruchuphan asking the government not to submit the Act to His Majesty the King for royal endorsement.
He said it was purely a decision for the NLA whether it proceeded to seek a legal interpretation by the Constitution Tribunal on whether the Act was a monetary law.
