Supreme Court to rule on credential of Puea Pandin candidate

The Supreme Court is scheduled to rule on Tuesday whether to reinstate the party list candidacy of Sithichai Kowsurat after completing a hearing Friday on his questionable credentials.

On November 21 the Election Commission removed Sithichai from the Puea Pandin Party list for Zone 4 on the grounds of duplicate party memberships. He was accused of being a People Power Party member when he registered for his Puea Pandin candidacy.

Speaking after the hearing, Sithichai said he told the high court that documents showing his PPP membership were not authentic.

"My signature was falsified and on July 28, the date of membership application, I was away attending a funeral in Ubon Ratchathani," he said.

He said he suspected the PPP had registered his name without consent by claiming the list of members of the disbanded Thai Rak Thai Party as its own.

If reinstated, he would continue his campaign for votes in Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon and Roi Et.
