Kungnang Phochai, 32, is in a stable condition although a .22 bullet has yet to be removed from her pubis. The shot was fired at her through the front door of her house.

She identified the gunman as a man named "Tuk", who had sent an SMS a few days earlier threatening her life.

Chotiphong Sao-ngern, Kungnang's husband, said he borrowed Bt6,000 from Tuk in August, at an interest rate of Bt2 per day. The debt increased to Bt20,000 as he failed to repay the money on time.
