Sonthi may be dismissed over plot to topple PPP

Deputy Prime Minister Sonthi Boonyaratglin will be dismissed as chairman of the national committee to fight vote buying if the Election Commission resolves that he instructed the Council for National Security (CNS) to unfairly act against People Power Party, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said.

Surayud was responding to the results of the investigation by the National Legislative Assembly's committee that found there were grounds to believe that the CNS was not neutral in connection to the allegation from the People Power Party that the junta's leaders was plotting to destroy the party.

NLA's committee headed by Supol Yuthithada resolved four to three that there were grounds to believe the CNS was not neutral but did not resolve if the confidential document was authentic.

Sonthi said the final decision will be rested with the Election Commission.
