SET ends 3% up

Thai shares closed almost 3 per cent higher on Thursday, driven by the strong rally in Wall Street and the Asian stock markets on optimism that the US Federal Reserve (FED) would cut its policy rate next month.



The SET index closed at the day's high at 844.80. Turnover was mederate at Bt22.31 billion.

 Among the most active stocks, PTT Plc went up 2.75 per ceat Bt374 though its hearing on privatisation filed by Foundation for Consumers will be made today, Thoresen Thai Agencies Plc (TTA) surged 10.87 per cent at Bt51, Banpu Plc (BANPU) surged 4.81 per cent at Bt436, PTT Exploration and Production Plc (PTTEP) jumped 7.04 per cent at Bt152, and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) rose 4.27 per cent at Bt85.50.
