However, the company expects its sales revenue to leap 15 per cent next year as a result of the election.

The company also expects a lower net loss for this year, compared to a net loss of Bt81 million last year.

Dearer homes

Built To Build, a homebuilding firm, yesterday announced an increase of 5 per cent for home construction in response to increases in prices of oil fuel and construction and building materials.

The new rate will be affective from Saturday.

Cut-price fairs

To cushion the impact on consumers from higher living costs, the Internal Trade Department will organise low-price fairs and dispatch more officially sponsored food kiosks into communities.

Director-general Yangyong Phuangrach yesterday said the Commerce Ministry planned to launch many fairs for low-cost goods and food nationwide, in a bid to lighten the burden on consumers.

It hopes the fairs will also persuade manufacturers to slow down plans to increase retail prices.

The fairs will sell consumer goods and food products at 20-40 per cent below the market price.
