HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn has graciously helped a family struggling to care for three-month-old quadruplets.
The cost of raising four babies at once has been a major burden, especially when the babies were rushed to hospital earlier this month after eyesight and heart problems were detected.
The quadruplets' mother Anan Supapien said yesterday she did not have enough
breast milk to feed all her four babies, who now consume nearly two cans of infant formula a day.
"The hospital charged us Bt500 for each baby. With four babies, we had to pay a Bt2,000 medical bill."
Air Chief Marshall Dr Amnat Paphavasit, a doctor for the crown prince, visited the Supapiens at their home yesterday.
"After hearing news reports about the quadruplets' illnesses and difficult life conditions, His Royal Highness became concerned," Amnat said.
He instructed help be given to the quadruplets and the family under the Saiyai Rak Haeng Krobkrua Project under His Royal Highness' patronage. This project promotes loving ties within the family.
"His Royal Highness has granted sponsorship for the quadruplets' medical care," Amnat said, as he led a group of doctors to examine the babies.
Amnat also gave instant formula, diapers and toys to the family.
He said under the Saiyai Rak Haeng Krobkrua Project, the family would also receive help to improve their home and advice on how to do supplementary work, as well as to reduce family expenses by growing vegetables and raising fish in their house compound.
Anan said it was her family's greatest pride to receive the crown prince's care. "I am so glad."
She said it was difficult to care for four young babies at once. Her husband only earns just over Bt7,000 a month but there were now four more lives to take care of. They also have a boy aged four who is now attending school.
