Suthep: Democrats will form govt even if it comes second

Democrat Party secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban said the Democrats still have time to persuade anti-old power groups to form the coaliton government.

"Politics is clearly polarised between the Democrat Party and People Power Party. Who will be the next government depends on which side gathers the most votes,'' he said.

Suthep expressed confidence though the two parties have a neck-to-neck race, Democrats will beat the arch rival in the last curve.

Accroding the second round appraisal by the Nation, the People Power Party still leads winning 179 seats, a drop from 190 seats in the previous appraisal. Although several pollsters indicate rising popularity of the Democrats in every region of the country, the party is expected to win only 133 seats lagging behind the People Power Party.
