Out of town

The 111 banned former Thai Rak Thai Party executives will rally tomorrow at a park on the embankment of the Nonthaburi pier, group spokesman Thosa-porn Serirak said yesterday.

Published on November 24, 2007

The rally site in Nonthaburi was chosen after city authorities denied them the use of Lumpini Park, reserved for a ceremony to honour King Rama VI.

Key figures, such as Chaturon Chaisang and Sutham Saengprathum, are expected to speak against the junta and the Election Commission ruling prohibiting the 111 from being involved in campaign activities, Thosaporn said.

"The 111 actually want to rally in the capital but are aware that Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin is a Democrat," he said, hinting that Apirak might be unwilling to make a venue available to his group.
