Thailand's biggest ever international conference on global warming takes place today at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Bangkok with hundreds of opinion leaders set to discuss practical measures to fight climate change.

Organised by The Nation, Krungthep Turakij and the Asia News Network, "Asia's Emerging Response to Climate Change" kicks off this morning with the latest predictions of how the world is expected to heat up at different rates this century. Thailand's Energy Ministry is among sponsors hosting the event.

Policy-makers, academics and business experts will lay out response plans in key areas including energy, environment, mega-cities and adaptation strategies for society and the industrial sector.
