Bangkok was one of the five finalist candidate cities bidding for the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in 2010.

Athens, Moscow, Singapore and Turin were others chosen, while Debrecen, Guatemala City, Kuala Lumpur and Poznan were eliminated after the consideration of the International Olympic Committee after scrutinising of the files and other documents. IOC executive board member Sergey Bubka will lead a committee to visit all finalists.
