Democracy vs Corruption: music & lyrics version

I was listening to some old and new songs on YouTube last night when it occurred to me that, with a minimum change of words, that mega-hit "Way Back Into Love" could really convey the theme of my "Democracy versus Corruption" series.

So, I got down to work and came up with the following masterpiece, or so I hope.

If you are reading this on the Net, or if there's an online computer nearby, it's strongly recommended that you go to YouTube and search for the full version of "Way Back Into Love", which is in abundance, and hum along to my lyrics. Either make sure your door is closed or go to the opposite extreme by inviting colleagues or friends to join in this interactive experience in media consumption.

For those who are new to the "Democracy versus Corruption" series, it's an ongoing dialogue between the personified two. Their mammoth battle, which has mesmerised planet Earth and Heaven and Hell, has ground to a halt and a fiery debate over a possible pact has begun. Corruption has been trying to persuade bitterly confused Democracy to accept that the two of them were made for each other and only through a truce between them can Thailand's political system get back on track.

By the way, for uncompromising fans of "Music and Lyrics" who can't bear to imagine Drew Barrymore as lost Democracy and Hugh Grant as cunning Corruption, I'll understand if you decide to skip this one. You will miss nothing but fun, though.

Ready? Here we go. To the tune of "Way Back Into Love":

(Democracy)

I've been living with the shadow of square face

I've been sleeping with the junta above my bed

I've been messed up for so long

Trapped in the past, I just can't seem to move on

(Corruption)

I've been hiding all my stocks and firms away

Just in case I need them again some day

I've been spending exile time

To clear a little space in the corners of my mind

(Both)

All I want to do is find a way back into love

I can't make it through without a way back into love

Oooooh

(Democracy)

I've been watching but Samak refuses to shine

I've been searching but I just don't see the signs

I know that it's out there

There's got to be something for my soul somewhere

(Corruption)

I've been looking for someone to treat me nice

Not somebody just to get me through the fight

I could use some protection

Not the boring talk of extradition

(Both)

All I want to do is find a way back into love

I can't make it through without a way back into love

And if I open my heart again, I guess I'm hoping you'll be there for me in the end

Oooooooh, Ooooooh, Ooooooh.

(Democracy)

There are moments when I don't know what is real

Or if anybody feels the way I feel

I need inspiration

Not just more tanks and machine-guns

(Both)

All I want to do is find a way back into love

I can't make it through without a way back into love

And if I open my heart to you, I'm hoping you'll show me what to do

And if you help me to start again, you know that I'll be there for you in the end

Oooooooh. Oooooooh....

And Earth, Heaven and Hell continue to hold their breath....
