Ministry sells tollway stake
The Finance Ministry will sell a 12.88-per-cent stake in the Don Muang Tollway to Babcock and Brown Toll Roads Holdings (Thailand) for Bt380.65 million. The deal is subject to Cabinet approval.
Finance Minister Chalong-phob Sussangkarn said the proceeds would be reserved for the ministry's future investment. After the transaction, the ministry's stake in the tollway company will fall to 25.1 per cent. After Don Muang Tollway's initial public offering early next year, its stake will be 21.34 per cent.
Chalongphop also said Esso (Thailand) would list on the exchange next year, in order to enjoy lower corporate taxes. The ministry also holds a stake in the oil-retailing business.
