EC to eject about 30 partylist candidates

The Election Commission is poised to disqualify about 30 partylist candidates on Friday, the deadline to endorse 31 party lists competing for proportionate votes.

The disqualification is based on the lack of credentials. Certain candidates have been found to register under differenct party banners.

Some 31 parties have registered in the race for 80 House seats allocated from votes cast in eight zones.

For direct vote, some 39 parties have joined the competition by fielding 3,894 candidates for 400 House seats up for grabs in 157 constituencies nationwide.

The People Power Party has a highest number of 400 candidates, followed by the Democrat Party (395 candidates), the Thai Ruam Ruay Party (386 candidates), the Matchima Thipataya (363 candidates) and the Puea Pandin Party (344 candidates).

The Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana has 324 candidates and the Chart Thai fields 285 candidates.
