Founded by Father Joe Maier and Sister Maria Chantavarodom in 1974, the centre is now home to more than 4,000 children who are nurtured and respected with dignity, and given an pre-school education that helps prepare them for primary school.
On the occasion of its 40th anniversary worldwide, Oriflame Cosmetics (Thailand) Ltd led by its managing director Supraporn SC Pao and regional director Thomas Ekberg, sponsored "Compassionate Dreams" - a photographic retrospective and charity auction of Martin Reeves' photographs with the proceeds going to support the Mercy Centre. The event was held recently at the Sukothai Hotel's Zuk Bar.
The charity cocktail event was opened by the Swedish ambassador Lennart Linner, and joined by Father Joe and Usanee Janngeon, the executive director of the centre who provided a deeply emotional presentation.
The guests were entertained by a lovely performance from the charismatic girls under the care of the centre and finished with a performance by singer Radklao Amaradis. The silent auction bids received immense interest from hundreds of guests and were highly successful.
The exhibition "Compassionate Dreams" continues until December 24 at the Emporium's Park Food Hall. To purchase a photograph, call Patsaranut at (02) 636 2611-2 or visit Outlaurs.net.
